Heineken Malaysia Berhad Wins CSR Award

Kuala Lumpur, 23 July 2017 – Heineken Malaysia Berhad (HEINEKEN Malaysia) was named one of the top Malaysian companies at the recent CSR Malaysia Awards 2017, in recognition of the company’s environmental initiatives and community work.

In line with HEINEKEN’s global sustainability strategy, Brewing a Better World, the company made significant strides in six focus areas including Protecting Water Resources, Reducing CO2 Emissions, Sourcing Sustainably, Advocating Responsible Consumption, Promoting Health and Safety, and Growing with Communities.

 

Commenting on the win, Renuka Indrarajah, HEINEKEN Malaysia’s Corporate Affairs & Legal Director, said, “We are proud to be one of Malaysia’s leading responsible corporate citizens. HEINEKEN Malaysia strives to embed sustainability across our value chain, from Barley to Bar, as we continue our mission to achieve our 2020 Brewing a Better World targets.”“Since 2014, we have reduced water consumption by 15.5%, electricity by 12.2%, thermal energy by 17.2%, and CO2 emissions by 11.1%. Our Drink Sensibly message has reached out to more than 7.9 million consumers. Through our Foundation we continued to engage local communities on our W.A.T.E.R Project as well as our English Enrichment Training Programme,” she said.

Moving forward, HEINEKEN Malaysia’s continued focus on creating positive environmental impact will help the company remain on track to fulfil its 2020 sustainability commitments, aligned with United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
